First words out of hubby’s mouth this morning.
“If the kids don’t get on their Christmas lists, they’re gonna get cans of corn for Christmas.”

Me: “And they’d be blessed!”

Christmas is always a zoo at the Sayler home.

A big happy zoo full of my own personal band of monkeys.

The boys pull names out of a hat and then they are responsible for the three gifts that land under the tree for that person.
This year?

Back in the early days of homeschooling, I took FULL advantage of Christmas sales to stock up on goodies for school.

Pencils, erasers, paper, books, great games, and even a good microscope  were always on the list.

But experiences always made the biggest splash.

This year, I expect the holidays to be crazier than usual.

So I am refining our Gift Ideas.

I know that my idea is not considered neither toy, nor fun, but it’s all our, parents fault! I’m recommending chess as a best toy for years (whole life if the owner will not lose or break it). Let’s start with the obvious. Chess is mentally stimulating. Exercising your brain is important for improving cognition. Informal studies suggest that students who major in especially difficult areas, such as philosophy or mathematics, perform better on the LSAT – the exam required for entrance into law school. Just as math and logic serve lawyers well in the courtroom as they fashion their arguments, so, too, is it with chess players on the chessboard as they make their moves. Chess develops concentration, increases patience and positively affects the intellectual and emotional development. It trains the player to look for ways of defeating the opponent. It is the best tool to teach your kids everything. I really can recommend a book, which is very good to teach kids how to play chess, writen by Makism Aksanov (net-boss.org/chess-puzzles-for-kids-by-maksim-aksanov). it’s very easy to teach with all the fun and play, and make with this game a very rich, fantasy world for our kids 🙂
