Kids slumped over their Earth Science books, eyes glazed. This is NOT how I wanted my boys to march through rocks, minerals, plate tectonics and all the other AMAZING topics to dig into during middle school.

If you love science, you understand that textbooks are a great place to start, but definitely NOT the final destination when getting your students excited about this incredible planet we call home.

Easy Earth Activities

When they’re little, some fun earth day activities whet their appetites.

But now that they’re in middle school, we get to dive into the good stuff.

3 Ways to make Earth Science Amazing for Middle School Students

“For heaven sakes, please take us outside,” our kids beg.

  1. Go outside! Find amazing rock formations, mountains, and even a friendly volcano to visit.
  2. Let the kids get dirty with some fun hands-on activities.
  3. Make every piece of paper count!
