My friend makes elderberry syrup every cold and flu season and swears by its super healing powere. She places a quiet little shout out on Facebook that she’s making a new batch and moms from all over our area swoop in to fill their bottles.

Elderberries grow well in full- to part-sun locations. Some of the European varieties may die back to the ground in colder climates but will resprout from the roots in spring.
