I remember giving one of our sons $100 for his 6th birthday. He is the most kind, compassionate and thoughtful guy and we thought it would be fun for him to go on a shopping spree.

OOPS! We didn’t prepare him for the overwhelm and gimmies that come when you shop without a goal. Bu the third aisle in the store he was frustrated and snappy.

SO out of character for him.

Remember my son in the toy store?

There was no way to calm him down, so we offered to take him for an ice cream cone and talk about what happened. He agreed.

The sun is beginning to stay in the sky longer, the birds are signing, the bees are buzzing, and homeschoolers are running in a million directions.

The next time we went into the toy store, our son knew he wanted a new Lego set and a book. We were able to smile as we walked past the action figures, games, and “pink toys” and he took his time choosing winners.
