The Pinky Promise Every Woman Needs to Make

Inside: a truth, a promise, and a giveaway.

Standing in the sun watching our kids jump on a trampoline, she reached under my chin and pulled out a hair.

“You had a long golden hair growing under your chin.”

I was horrified.

11 Creative Ways for Moms to Make Money from Home

Sitting in my kitchen staring at my computer thinking, “Can I make money from home?”

creative ways to make money from home

Before we go too far… My definition of HUSTLE is “busy movement and activity”.  I use the phrase hustle because it’s a popular search term. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to make sure my work online is actually found. Write that tip down. No matter what YOU decide to do, that one is key!

I’ve tried lots of things to earn cash from home, but my favorite way is using what I call magic and monopoly.

I don’t want to turn my garage into a knife forge, or my living room into a craft creation warehouse. Is it too much to ask to simply wave my magic wand, pull an idea out of my head and make a little money?

LOL! I’m guessing you’ve had the same thought.

After years of trying to make measurable cash from my imagination, I finally did it well enough to share with you!

Magic.

An idea can earn income if you can package it in an attractive way and bring enough people to come and take a look at it. Our kids do this all the time when they set up a lemonade stand our front yards. The prettier the stand and the bigger the smiles the larger the sales, right?

creative ways to make money from home

It’s not hard to think of a great (or even just good) idea. As a homeschooler and blogger, my brain is always on creative mode. Printable, lessons, planners, and classes come to me in my sleep. I’m guessing you have some ideas too.

make and sell printables

The Magic Happens when you learn to package your idea in a way that causes someone to stop scrolling on their screen just long enough to think, “Hey! I need that!” When the number of people who pause to look at your “thing” grows, so does your income. MAGIC.

Monopoly.

After creating about 100 printables for homeschoolers, teachers, and parents I began thinking, “HEY! I like what that seller over there created too. Is there a way that I can share her thing and make a few pennies too?” I call this monopoly money. Making a profit through the easy-peasy process of sharing other peoples creations. The business world calls this affiliate marketing. I call it monopoly- like the game. Because games are fun.

Creative Ways I personally have earned at least $300

Network marketing. Come on. Most of us have “tried it” at one point or another! I’ve been a part of Amway (In the old days) and Advocare in the more recent decade. In the end, network marketing just isn’t my sweet spot, but there are some incredible companies out there!

Blogging. This is where my online journey began and continues to grow today. “How can I turn my passion for writing and sharing stories into dimes, quarters, and dollar bills?” I earn income through ads, reviews, and selling products and classes I create all from my blog. All digital products. (Magic)

Selling printables. “I’m making them for my own kids… “Can I package my printable to sell online?” YEP! (Magic) I began my journey uploading my creations to Teachers Pay Teachers and now sell them on my blog and in an online store too. Join the NEXT Free Make and Sell Printables Bootcamp

Affiliate Marketing. After taking a blogging class, I shared a link to the next series of training and earned $300. “Wait? WHAT!?!” You mean I can share other peoples golden products and classes and earn a small (or big) commission for that sale? YES!! (Monopoly)

Create e-Classes. “If I make classes online will people enroll?” YES!! (Magic)

I am most thankful for the love and support of my husband of almost 30 years, Craig, for being my rock and best friend in this wildlife we created.

Gifts from Heaven: Gifts and Letters from the Past

About 10 years ago, great grandma came to visit for about a month.

It was a delightful time!

We baked, read stories, made tape recordings, and homeschooled the kids together.

While she was there it dawned on me that this precious woman would not be there a few years down the road. She was already about 90 years old and was not in perfect health.

Gifts from Heaven

I encouraged her to do something amazing: Make each of her grandchildren a wedding gift and to pick out a card and to write them each a personal letter that they would receive at their wedding.

Well, grandma has been in eternity for a few years now.  I am so blessed that she did not get offended at my suggestion, but rather took the task to heart.

Sitting in my home, nestled away in a safe place are five handmade wedding gifts and cards; one for each of our sons.
…I call them gifts from heaven.

Someday each of the boys will receive one of these precious, priceless, handmade gifts…
I am blessed beyond words.

A Fun and Future Writing Assignment
Because anything can be turned into a homeschooling lesson

I recently began having the boys write themselves letters to the future as well.

How fun will it be to receive advice from their 10, 14, 18 or 23 year olds selves?
Ok, some of the letters are hilarious, but they are all precious.

I would encourage you to capture pricelessness today:

  • Do you have an aging parent or grandparent? Encourage them to invest some time into the future by hand making a gift, handwriting a card, or setting something aside for the kids. They will never regret setting aside something special, and the kids will be blessed!
  • Have your kids write to their future selves. Then, put a reminder in your calendar to prompt you to gift it to them at a future date (21st birthday, wedding, etc.). Be sure to place these priceless things in a safe place!

As homeschoolers, we have the ability to focus on the most important things in life. Embrace that gift today!

My personal statement of faith:

I believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

I believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

I believe “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” and that we are saved by faith in Jesus.

My favorite Bible teachers are my husband (Craig Sayler), Pastor Jon Courson, Pastor Chuck Smith, CH Spurgeon.

Days of Creation Activities for Kids

In the beginning…

Most of us begin teaching our kids Bible stories by starting at the very beginning. Dark becomes light. It’s exciting and wonderful all at the same time.

You can never go wrong with simply reading and memorizing Genesis, but if you’re looking for some fun and easy ways to dive a little deeper, here are resources I’ve either used, made, or discovered in my own journey teaching my sons God’s Word.

Music

I personally begin with the Hippopotamus song. Well, that’s what we always called it.

Days of Creation Song

FOOD: If they can eat it, they’ll remember!

days of creation
  • Day 1: Oreo Cookies! Darkness and Light never tasted better!!
  • Day 2: Blue jello with some whipped cream
  • Day 3: Broccoli, grapes, and dandelions (Or a cookie with a picture of plants on them. Or bite shapes of flowers into a large tortilla)
  • Day 4: Lucky charms! Pick out the moons, suns and stars
  • Day 5: Goldfish crackers. Or Smoked King Salmon that your sons caught while on a fishing trip with their dad. (Wait, that’s my house)
  • Day 6: Animal crackers or cookies
  • Day 7: Eat a snack JUST before resting.

90 Thanksgiving Jokes to Make Your Kids Laugh

Inside: Thanksgiving jokes and a printable cootie catcher for kids.

I sauntered into the kitchen. That 30 pound bird smelled so good. Opening the oven door to baste the turkey… I had a mini heart attack.

My Thanksgiving turkey had imploded.

Sitting in 3 inches of juice, with black charred ribs showing from under the skin, I panicked.

I ran to my dad.

“I need to show you something.” I whispered. “NOW.”

The holidays can be quite stressful.

Shopping for all the fixings, preparing for all the wonderful family and friends, and dealing with imploding turkeys.

Make it a point to laugh a lot this year.
If you’re anything like me, you might need a few bad (clean) jokes to add to your toolkit.

150 Educational Gift Ideas Kids will Love

Inside: Over 150 recommendations for educational gifts and a free printable gift list!!

First words out of hubby’s mouth this morning.
“If the kids don’t get on their Christmas lists, they’re gonna get cans of corn for Christmas.”

Me: “And they’d be blessed!”

Christmas is always a zoo at the Sayler home.

A big happy zoo full of my own personal band of monkeys.

The boys pull names out of a hat and then they are responsible for the three gifts that land under the tree for that person.
This year?

Back in the early days of homeschooling, I took FULL advantage of Christmas sales to stock up on goodies for school.

Pencils, erasers, paper, books, great games, and even a good microscope  were always on the list.

But experiences always made the biggest splash.

This year, I expect the holidays to be crazier than usual. So I am refining our Gift Ideas.

Over 150 Education Gift Ideas Your Kids will LOVE

Easy Ways to Homeschool Through the Holidays

The easiest way to coast through homeschooling is to roll with the tide, seasons and calendar.

It’s the same idea as vacationing in the town you live: finding the hidden gems, enjoying the family owned hole in the wall restaurant, resting at a secret garden, parking your car in that one spot that always gets you to the beach faster.
