Happy Almost August!

Are you ready to inspire your kids to write AND explore geography?
I need your help with this one. I need ONE volunteer from each of our 50 states to kick off our USA Postcard Swap the first week of September. I am hoping you will help me by forwarding this off to those you know to help us build our first annual USA Post Card Swap. Share on Facebook, email, tweet, or call family and friends to give them a chance to participate.

What is a postcard swap?
One person from each state agrees to send out post cards from their state to all of the other participants. It’s just a fun, more personal way to learn about the states!

***The FIRST swap is scheduled to begin the first week of September***

Who can sign up for the USA Post Card Swap?

  • Anyone with children (from ages 1-107)
  • Homeschoolers! Can you say friendly letter? Formatting addresses? Penmanship? Friendliness? All disguised in that wonderful pen-pal activity.
  • Grandparents are perfect candidates. Simply indicate your grand children's address. (You would send your states cards, and your grandchildren would receive the other states cards)

The guidelines are:
1. Only one family per state will be selected (next year we hope to do two), so sign up immediately! (I personally have missed other post card swaps because I live in California and and slow to make decisions like this... Learn from my procrastination)
2.  Email me here with your desire to participate.
IMPORTANT: Kindly add your state name in the email's subject line, then your full name and address in the email. Participants will be added on a first come first serve basis.  I will let you know via email if you have been added to the list.
3. Wait for your confirmation email from me. If you do not hear from me within three days then your state has already been covered.
4. Once included, you will receive an email with further instructions;).

Thank you so much for participating!

Written by Erica at Confessions of a Homeschooler, this curriculum is a wonderful way to introduce your kids to the geography of the USA. Here's what her website says,
"Come along with us on an exciting journey learning about the U.S.A! From the signing of theDeclaration of Independence, to the wild west, you’ll uncover all the secrets this Nation has to offer! Within this curriculum you’ll discover the sights and sounds of all 50 states, including state symbols, U.S. Presidents, famous peoplelandmarks, historical events, and much more!"

  1. So far these are the states we have covered:
California, Colorado,Indiana, Maryland, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Virginia, Washington

It's not too late to join, just click on the email link in the post, or comment here. (Put your state in the subject line!)

  2. Thanks for including us! Can't wait to get started!

  3. This sounds interesting, I'll have to pray about it.

    1. That's the best way to do anything:-). This post card swap does have the cost of the postcards and stamps to consider. I am praying for you right now, for you to be able to discern whether this is something the Lord would have you join at this time. I'd love to ask for prayer for the whole thing as well. I do not want to strive over anything:-).

  4. Hi! I just sent you an email with Alabama in the subject line. :)
We're also trying our own Postcard Exchange. You can read about it here: We've also pinned it on Pinterest: Looking forward to hearing from you!

I love hearing from you!
